Is the Virtual Club taking the place of my postponed race?
There will not be any live Bloomberg Square Mile Relay races for the remainder of 2020. The Virtual Club gives our community the opportunity to compete against each other on a local and global scale, either against colleagues or against other companies in your city or other race cities. Every city will have a ‘Virtual’ one-mile race so make sure you sign up!
What is a ‘virtual’ run (or walk)?
Virtual running (or walking) works exactly the same as any other type of running but the difference is that you can run at any location, at any pace, inside on a treadmill or outside on the street, in a park, or even in another country! Once you are a member of the Virtual Club you will have access to all our ‘virtual’ races and challenges.
How can I access the Virtual Club?
You need to be a registered member of the Virtual Club to access the platform. Visit www.squaremilerelay.com/virtual-club and click ‘sign up’ if you are a new member, or click ‘log in’ if you are an existing member.
Who can join the Virtual Club?
Anyone can join the Virtual Club as long as they are employed by a company, and register under their company’s name. You don’t need to have participated in a Bloomberg Square Mile Relay race, but please note that any new companies will need to be verified.
How can I register my company?
If your company is not listed, please email your company name to virtualclub@squaremilerelay.com for verification. Once verified, we will let you know if you can complete the registration process.
How do I change company if I have already signed up to the Virtual Club?
Email your details and the name of your new company to virtualclub@squaremilerelay.com and we will transfer your account.
Race Postponement – Why were the Beijing and Shanghai races postponed?
The decision has been made after careful consultation between all the key stakeholders after monitoring and assessing the lasting impact of COVID-19 globally and after taking into consideration the health and safety of all employees, staff, clients, sponsors and stakeholders during these unprecedented times.
Whilst this is not the news we had hoped to deliver we believe it is the right decision under the circumstances and we look forward to hosting the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay back in China next year, at a time when we feel that the races will be more important than ever in getting teams of employees back together and improving their health and wellbeing, whilst still supporting the local communities and delivering lasting impact through The Extra Mile programme.
Race Postponement – When will the next race take place in Beijing and Shanghai?
The next edition of the Bloomberg Square Mile Relay Beijing and Shanghai will take place in 2021. We will be in contact with all Team Captains and runners as soon as we can announce a confirmed race date.
Race Postponement – Will I get notified when the 2021 race is on sale?
All Team Captains and runners who have previously participated in the race will be notified as soon as a date is confirmed and when team entries are available to purchase. If you are new to the race, please make sure you register your interest so we can also contact you when teams go on sale.
